Newsletter No.19
Today’s newsletter is dedicated to our latest editorial, Please Be Seated. It also feels like the perfect opportunity to announce the theme for our next issue. I’ve been thinking about what it is that makes my heart sing, and the answer is: creativity. Whether through painting, writing, dance, poetry, photography, or any other artistic practice, creativity gives us a space to process emotions, express ourselves, and quiet the noise of everyday life. For our next issue, we’ll be celebrating the creative arts in all their forms. If you’re a creative and would like to contribute, we’d love to hear from you. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been collecting some of my favourite quotes on creativity…
“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will.” - George Bernard Shaw
“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” - Maya Angelou
“Think of the universe as an eternal creative unfolding.
Trees blossom.
Cells replicate.
Rivers forge new tributaries.
The world pulses with productive energy, and everything that exists on this planet is driven by that energy.
Every manifestation of this unfolding is doing its own work on behalf of the universe, each in its own way, true to its own creative impulse.“ - Rick Rubin
“If you hear a voice within you say, ‘You cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” - Vincent Van Gogh
“Curiosity about life in all of its aspects, I think, is still the secret of great creative people.” - Leo Burnett
